Ce petit entra\u00eeneur croate, aussi talentueux que controvers\u00e9, a pos\u00e9 les bases de plusieurs ann\u00e9es de succ\u00e8s. C\u2019est sur ces fondations que Van Himst et Haan ont pu construire leurs propres r\u00e9ussites \u2014 amplement m\u00e9rit\u00e9es.
Mais ensuite, le d\u00e9clin a commenc\u00e9.
La raison principale : les structures mises en place par Albert Roosens se sont peu \u00e0 peu d\u00e9sint\u00e9gr\u00e9es. De nombreux sp\u00e9cialistes du football ont quitt\u00e9 le club ou ont pris leur retraite, ce qui a \u00e9galement affect\u00e9 les jeunes g\u00e9n\u00e9rations. Le r\u00e9seau de d\u00e9tection des talents s\u2019est effondr\u00e9. Bekeffy, le dirigeant qui avait li\u00e9 son destin \u2014 et sa fortune \u2014 \u00e0 celui du club, est d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9. Et aucun v\u00e9ritable successeur n\u2019a \u00e9t\u00e9 trouv\u00e9.
Malgr\u00e9 tout, Anderlecht a tenu bon, uniquement gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 sa solidit\u00e9 financi\u00e8re. C\u2019\u00e9tait le club le plus riche et le plus puissant du pays, capable d\u2019imposer son rythme au march\u00e9 des transferts \u2014 l\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e9rant ou le ralentissant selon ses propres int\u00e9r\u00eats.
Ses activit\u00e9s sur le march\u00e9 des joueurs se terminaient presque toujours avec un bilan positif. Et cela tombait bien : des investissements constants \u00e9taient n\u00e9cessaires pour agrandir le stade, sans aucune aide de l\u2019\u00c9tat.
D\u2019un point de vue \u00e9conomique, ce fut une performance sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent dans l\u2019histoire du football belge.
