La vague d\u2019\u00e9migration qui a suivi la R\u00e9volution hongroise de 1956 a profond\u00e9ment touch\u00e9 le football hongrois. De nombreux joueurs ont fui le pays pour \u00e9chapper aux repr\u00e9sailles, mais ils n\u2019ont pas disparu du sport. Au contraire, ils se sont rapidement regroup\u00e9s en Europe de l\u2019Ouest et ont \u00e9bloui leur nouveau public avec un style de jeu rappelant l\u2019\u00e2ge d\u2019or du football hongrois.<\/p>

Le \u00ab\u202fcoach hollandais\u202f\u00bb n\u2019\u00e9tait autre que J\u00f3zsef Ver\u00e9b, install\u00e9 aux Pays-Bas apr\u00e8s la Seconde Guerre mondiale. \u00c0 l\u2019arriv\u00e9e des r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s hongrois en 1956, il saisit l\u2019occasion\u202f: il ne voulait pas que ces footballeurs de classe mondiale se dispersent \u00e0 travers l\u2019Europe. Il parcourut les camps de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s en Autriche pour recruter des joueurs talentueux tels que Mikl\u00f3s T\u00f3dor, Andr\u00e1s B\u00e9res, Jen\u0151 B\u00e9keffy, B\u00e9la Gregor et Gy\u00f6rgy Bogn\u00e1r.<\/p>

\u00c0 cette \u00e9poque, les transferts officiels \u00e9taient encore impossibles, car la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration hongroise de football avait interdit pendant un an \u00e0 tous les joueurs ayant quitt\u00e9 le pays de participer \u00e0 des comp\u00e9titions. Ver\u00e9b ne se laissa pas d\u00e9courager\u202f: il forma une \u00e9quipe nationale de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s hongrois et organisa des matchs amicaux. La r\u00e9putation de l\u2019\u00e9quipe se r\u00e9pandit rapidement, et bient\u00f4t des clubs n\u00e9erlandais de premi\u00e8re division, comme le PSV Eindhoven, \u00e9taient impatients de les affronter.<\/p><\/div>
