Georges Leekens est un ancien footballeur et entra\u00eeneur belge qui a occup\u00e9 le poste de s\u00e9lectionneur national de plusieurs \u00e9quipes, notamment la Belgique, l\u2019Alg\u00e9rie, la Tunisie et la Hongrie. Au niveau des clubs, il a travaill\u00e9 en Belgique, en Turquie, en Tunisie et en Arabie saoudite.
Bien qu\u2019il ait \u00e9t\u00e9 nomm\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionneur de l\u2019\u00e9quipe nationale hongroise en octobre 2017, Georges Leekens n\u2019a dirig\u00e9 son premier match qu\u2019au printemps 2018. Il est donc pertinent, avec le recul, de r\u00e9sumer son mandat, court mais significatif.
Si l\u2019on observe son parcours, il est difficile de trouver, au cours des trente derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es en Hongrie, un entra\u00eeneur \u00e9tranger dot\u00e9 d\u2019une exp\u00e9rience aussi riche et vari\u00e9e. Des clubs tels que le Club Bruges, Anderlecht, Lokeren, le Roda JC ou encore La Gantoise t\u00e9moignent du niveau d\u2019expertise qu\u2019il a apport\u00e9.
Durant sa br\u00e8ve p\u00e9riode \u00e0 la t\u00eate de la s\u00e9lection hongroise, plusieurs nouveaux joueurs ont \u00e9t\u00e9 int\u00e9gr\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019effectif, attirant ainsi l\u2019attention de son successeur, Marco Rossi, sur des profils jusque-l\u00e0 peu consid\u00e9r\u00e9s.
Georges Leekens a pris ses fonctions dans un contexte extr\u00eamement difficile : une \u00e9quipe d\u00e9sorganis\u00e9e, une transition g\u00e9n\u00e9rationnelle majeure et de nombreuses blessures compliquant la constitution d\u2019un groupe comp\u00e9titif. C\u00f4t\u00e9 hongrois, il n\u2019a \u00e9t\u00e9 assist\u00e9 que par G\u00e1bor Bekeffy (Bekeffy Football Consulting) et Endre Varga.
\u00c0 70 ans, la t\u00e2che \u00e9tait loin d\u2019\u00eatre simple. N\u00e9anmoins, le travail effectu\u00e9 durant son mandat a contribu\u00e9 aux succ\u00e8s obtenus ult\u00e9rieurement par l\u2019\u00e9quipe nationale sous la direction de Marco Rossi.<\/p>
