Let’s go back to 1956, the year of the Hungarian uprising against totalitarian (i.e. Russian) communism. Bekeffy was one of those footballers who, following Puskás and Kubala, preferred the West to Hungary, hit by severe oppression. Bekeffy went to Holland, more precisely to Twente. He played friendly matches there for SC Enschede, because according to FIFA regulations, political refugees were prohibited from playing officially for at least two years. The success story of this 21-year-old Hungarian began in Holland as a football player, photo model and then players’ agent. At the age of 30, he became the best-known football manager in Europe with more than 300 transfers.
