Gábor Békeffy was welcomed by Roger Vanden Stock, president of Anderlecht, thanks to a long-standing family friendship. Békeffy’s father and Roger’s father, Constant Vanden Stock—after whom Anderlecht’s stadium is named—had been close friends for decades.When asked about the secret behind the Vanden Stock family’s decades-long success in running Anderlecht profitably, Roger Vanden Stock, now 71, replied: “There is no secret. Tradition is the key. Anderlecht is a true brand name—a prestigious club that appeals both to fans and to investors. Of course, tradition alone is not enough. Many famous clubs around the world have disappeared for one reason or another. Our priority is always quality football. Year after year, our main goal is to serve our supporters and keep them loyal to the club.”
